Roofing Warranty
Ernie’s Roofing is a third-generation family roofing contractor serving Denver. Our three-year limited workmanship warranty for eligible full roof replacements explains what our installation coverage includes, how to request service, and how it differs from manufacturer protection. Your project’s signed written documents identify the coverage that applies.
Our three-year limited workmanship warranty covers defects in Ernie’s Roofing’s installation within the signed replacement scope. We inspect reported concerns and correct covered defects in the affected work. Manufacturer coverage is separate. Third-party charges require our prior written authorization under this warranty; applicable legal rights remain unchanged.
Three-Year Limited Workmanship Coverage
If this is your first time hearing this, a roof has two different kinds of warranty protection: coverage for the products and coverage for the installation. A shingle manufacturer’s long warranty does not automatically mean the roofing contractor guarantees every roof problem for that same period.
This limited workmanship warranty applies to eligible full roof replacements when included in the signed project documents. The three-year term begins on the completion date recorded in those documents. The covered property, original customer, installation scope, and any project-specific terms must be identified in writing. Separate repairs, coatings, solar work, and other services are covered only as their own agreements specify.
Covered Installation
Defects attributable to Ernie’s Roofing’s installation of the roofing components included in the signed replacement scope are eligible for inspection and correction under this warranty.
Our Repair Obligation
For a covered defect, we provide the labor and materials reasonably necessary to correct the affected portion of our installation at no charge under this warranty.
Defined Term
Coverage lasts three years from the documented completion date. A repair does not restart or extend the original term unless we expressly agree in writing, subject to applicable law.
“A warranty should tell you who to call, what is covered, and what happens next. Keep your signed scope, completion paperwork, and product warranty together so we can evaluate a concern against the work actually performed.”
These are limited workmanship terms, not a promise that a roof will never leak or sustain damage. A new stain can result from installation, a storm, condensation, a wall opening, or another trade’s work. The cause must be evaluated before coverage can be determined.
What This Limited Warranty Excludes
The following conditions are outside this express workmanship coverage to the extent they cause the reported damage or defect. An excluded condition does not automatically cancel coverage for an unrelated installation defect.
- External damage: hail, wind, falling branches or objects, fire, animals, and other external events.
- Product defects and ordinary aging: manufacturing defects, normal weathering, and appearance changes that are not caused by a covered installation defect. Manufacturer claims follow the manufacturer’s terms.
- Other parties’ work: damage caused by later repairs, roof penetrations, solar or satellite installations, foot traffic, or alterations by others.
- Existing or excluded building conditions: structural movement, settling, concealed deterioration, or components outside our signed scope, except to the extent a covered installation defect causes or contributes to the problem.
- Maintenance and moisture conditions: damage caused by neglected maintenance, blocked drainage, or condensation or ventilation conditions outside our scope. An installation defect in ventilation work we agreed to perform remains subject to evaluation.
This express warranty provides correction of covered roofing installation defects. It does not separately promise payment for interior finishes, contents, loss of use, or other resulting losses. This description does not waive any claim, remedy, or obligation that applicable law does not allow the parties to exclude.
Report a Concern Before It Spreads
Water can travel before it becomes visible indoors. A ceiling stain alone does not identify the entry point. Contact us promptly, photograph what you can safely see, and keep the area clear of electrical hazards.
Our Opportunity to Inspect and Repair
Before hiring another contractor for permanent repairs to work claimed under this warranty, notify Ernie’s Roofing and provide a reasonable opportunity to inspect the condition and correct a covered defect. This is an opportunity-to-inspect-and-repair requirement, rather than a promise to reimburse a contractor selected without our authorization.
- Notify us promptly. Call 720 346 ROOF and provide written notice through the contact method in your signed project documents. Include the property address, customer name, completion date if available, when the problem appeared, and photographs.
- Allow reasonable access. We arrange an inspection as reasonably practicable, considering weather, safe access, and the condition reported. Do not climb onto the roof to gather evidence.
- Let us evaluate the cause. We review the signed scope, inspect the affected area, and explain whether the condition falls within this warranty. An inspection itself does not establish coverage.
- Allow covered correction. If covered, Ernie’s Roofing performs or arranges the corrective work. If the issue is outside coverage, any proposed paid work requires a separate agreement before it proceeds.
Report concerns during the three-year term and as soon as reasonably possible after discovery. This ordinary warranty-service process does not replace legally required notices or shorten any statutory deadline. Prior written approval is required for third-party charges under this express warranty.
Emergency Protection and Third-Party Charges
Take reasonable steps to protect people and limit active damage when it is unsafe or impractical to wait. Contact us promptly and preserve photographs, invoices, and any removed materials when safe and practical. Do not delay necessary safety measures while trying to obtain documentation.
This limited warranty does not authorize or promise reimbursement for another party’s inspection, tarping, emergency callout, temporary repair, permanent repair, or related charges without Ernie’s Roofing’s prior written authorization. Hiring another company does not, by itself, obligate Ernie’s Roofing to pay that company’s bill under this warranty.
Temporary mitigation does not automatically void unrelated workmanship coverage. However, damage or defects caused by another party’s work are excluded from this express coverage. Give us a reasonable opportunity to inspect before permanent alterations, and document any emergency work that could not reasonably wait.
These provisions define the express warranty benefit. They do not eliminate separate legal obligations or rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
Manufacturer Coverage and Project Records
Product Warranty
Manufacturer coverage depends on the products installed and the applicable written terms. Registration, installation requirements, prorating, labor allowances, and exclusions vary. Enhanced coverage applies only when specifically documented.
Transfer Requests
This limited workmanship warranty does not transfer automatically. Any approved transfer must be confirmed by Ernie’s Roofing in writing and does not extend the original term, subject to your signed documents and applicable law.
Existing Customers
This page does not retroactively change a previous project’s warranty. Keep your original agreement. Future website edits do not replace the terms issued for your completed work.
Keep roof drainage clear, follow applicable product maintenance instructions, and notify us before another trade alters the roof. Save your contract, completion record, product information, maintenance records, and service correspondence. If documents differ, contact us to clarify them; this page does not override enforceable signed terms or applicable law.

Roofing Warranty Questions
How long is the workmanship warranty?
The limited workmanship term is three years from the completion date recorded in your signed project documents. It applies to eligible full roof replacements that include this warranty in writing. Repairs and other services carry only the coverage stated in their own signed agreements.
What does workmanship mean?
Workmanship means how Ernie’s Roofing installed the work in the agreed scope. A covered installation defect is different from a defective roofing product, storm damage, or a problem in a building component we did not install.
What happens if an installation defect is covered?
Ernie’s Roofing will provide the labor and materials reasonably necessary to correct the covered defect in the affected portion of our installation, at no charge under this warranty. Coverage does not automatically require a complete roof replacement.
Do I have to contact Ernie’s Roofing first?
Yes. Notify us promptly and give us a reasonable opportunity to inspect the condition and perform a covered repair before arranging permanent repairs by another contractor. Call 720 346 ROOF and provide written notice through the contact method in your signed project documents.
Will Ernie’s Roofing pay another contractor’s emergency bill?
This limited warranty does not authorize or promise reimbursement for third-party inspections, tarping, emergency service, repairs, or related charges without Ernie’s Roofing’s prior written authorization. Reasonable temporary protection may be needed to limit active damage. Any separate obligations imposed by applicable law remain unaffected.
Does another contractor touching my roof void everything?
No. We exclude damage or defects caused by another party’s alterations, penetrations, repairs, or removal of our installation. Unrelated covered workmanship remains eligible. Notify us before solar, satellite, HVAC, or other roof work so the affected details can be documented.
Does this warranty cover hail or wind damage?
Damage caused by hail, wind, falling objects, fire, or other external events is outside this workmanship warranty. An installation defect is evaluated separately, even when a storm reveals the problem. Your insurance policy and any manufacturer warranty have their own terms.
Is the manufacturer warranty the same coverage?
No. Manufacturer coverage addresses eligible product defects under the manufacturer’s written terms. Its duration, registration requirements, labor allowances, transfer rules, and exclusions vary. A long product warranty does not extend Ernie’s Roofing’s three-year workmanship term.
Does selling the house transfer this warranty?
Transfer is not automatic under this limited warranty. Any transfer must be approved by Ernie’s Roofing in writing and does not restart or extend the original three-year term. Your existing signed documents and applicable law continue to govern.
Does this page change a warranty I already received?
No. Existing customers retain the terms that applied to their projects. This page does not retroactively shorten, expand, or replace earlier agreements. A covered repair does not restart the term unless Ernie’s Roofing expressly agrees in writing, subject to applicable law.
